Outside of normal surgery hours, including weekends and public holidays, to access urgent medical assistance call NHS 111 Service on 111. NHS 111 is free to call from land lines and mobiles.
The NHS 111 service is available 24 hours a day and can provide patient information, issue prescriptions to a pharmacy of your choice, book a GP appointment, and, if necessary, refer people to emergency services.
This service will assess your situation and provide you appropriate help. This could simply be by offering advice or where necessary by making arrangements for you to be seen by a doctor.
Out-of-hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.
In the event of their being a serious medical or life threatening emergency then you should dial 999 or go to the nearest A&E Department (Chest pains and/or shortness of breath are usual examples of a genuine emergency).
