Accessible Information Standard
Accessible Information Standard
Making our information and services accessible
At 306 Medical Centre, we are committed to making sure that all our patients can access and understand information about their healthcare and receive the communication support they need.
We follow the NHS Accessible Information Standard, which helps ensure that people with a disability, impairment or sensory loss are not disadvantaged when accessing NHS services.
How we can support you
If you have a communication or information need, please tell us. We will work with you to understand your needs and, where appropriate, record them on your patient record so that our practice team can provide appropriate support.
This may include:
- providing information in an alternative format, such as large print, audio or electronic format;
- allowing additional time for an appointment where this is needed to support effective communication;
- using a specific method of contacting you;
- providing support from a communication professional, such as a British Sign Language interpreter;
- supporting the use of communication aids or other methods of communication; and
- providing appropriate support to help you communicate effectively with our practice team.
Physical accessibility
Our patient areas on the ground floor, including the waiting room, consulting rooms and toilets, have wheelchair access.
If the doctor or healthcare professional you wish to see is based on the first floor, please tell our Reception Team when booking your appointment. We can make arrangements for you to be seen in a ground-floor room where possible.
If you have difficulty opening the entrance door, there is a bell to the left of the surgery door. Please use the bell to alert our Reception Team and a member of staff will assist you.
Tell us about your communication needs
Please let us know if you have an information or communication need. You can tell us when:
- registering with the practice;
- booking or attending an appointment;
- contacting us by telephone or online; or
- your communication needs change.
We will identify, record, flag, share, meet and review your information and communication needs as appropriate.
You can also ask us about reasonable adjustments that may help you access our services.
